Report on the Preston Village Design Statement Forum at the Village Hall on Friday 5th. October
This event was designed to encourage local residents to register their views on a range of issues relating to the Village Design Statement that is being prepared on behalf of the Parish Council.
Residents split into groups, each of which spent some time discussing the five key Forum topics:
- What makes Preston Distinctive?
- Roads, Safety & Streetscape
- Local Employment & Farm Diversification
- Environment & Amenity Space
The evening went well with full participation and commitment from those present. About 40 people were involved, which is quite good for a small village, but it is still only around 10% of the adult population. The Village Design Statement should be as representative of as many people as possible, which means we would really like to get more input from any resident who, for whatever reason, was unable to attend last Friday.
So, please have a quick look at the responses which we have summarised by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page, then send us your views. Your views are important, whether they are in agreement, disagreement or present something entirely new. You don’t have to write much, just an indication of your position is what we need. This is for your village and may influence what happens to it in the future. You can do this either by handing in your views at the village shop in an envelope marked “Response to VDS Forum Topics” or by giving it to Ollie Chapman or by e-mailing it to: firstname.lastname@example.org. Every individual opinion is valued. Work on completing the Village Design Statement will take at least another three months, and VDS drafts will be posted on the Preston Parish Plan website as we progress. When most of the fact gathering is complete, we will hold a daytime week-end event in the Village Hall (probably in February) to give every resident a final opportunity for comment.
